BISMARCK — Jesse Kessel had 23 points as the Dickinson High boys basketball team won its third straight game Thursday night.

The Midgets got big nights from its big guys too in its 72-63 West Region victory over Bismarck St. Mary’s.

“Our kids are playing with confidence,” Midgets head coach John Wilson said. “We were in a really tight game tonight and our kids came out on top finally.”

The game was tied at 30 at halftime, but the Midgets (7-11, 4-11 West) expanded on that in the second half as Jordan Krieg added 16 points, Jaden Kudrna came up with clutch baskets and finished with 11 and Tyrell Parker notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Jon Wanner added nine assists and six points.

“I was most happy with what Jaden was able to do,” Wilson said. “He’d been in a funk for a while and tonight he broke out and played with confidence.”

Ben Weisbeck led the Saints (11-6, 9-5 West) with 17 points.

The Midgets end their regular season at 7:30 p.m. Monday when they host Mandan.

A win would keep them out of the West Region Tournament’s play-in game.

“We control our own destiny,” Wilson said.
