Dickinson State says audit clears other programs

WAHPETON (AP) — Officials at a western North Dakota college stung by the revelation that some international students received degrees they didn't earn say a recent review of other programs came out clean.

New Dickinson State University president D.C. Coston appeared in front of the state Board of Higher Education Thursday, shortly after the board approved his contract.

It has been two weeks since an audit showed that during an eight-year period, 400 of 410 foreign students who received diplomas didn't finish their degree work.

Coston says a separate audit of 158 student files in that same time frame showed no issues with transcripts or other documents. He says that report provides “further confirmation” that the issue with bogus degrees is isolated to what he calls the special international programs.
