District 13 girls basketball tournament: Bulldogs clip Night Hawks

BOWMAN — Kit Miller led Bowman County to a thrilling victory over Hettinger-Scranton on Saturday night in the District 13 girls basketball tournament.

BOWMAN — Kit Miller led Bowman County to a thrilling victory over Hettinger-Scranton on Saturday night in the District 13 girls basketball tournament.

Miller had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to a 52-50 victory at Solberg Gymnasium, secure her team a spot in the Region 7 tournament and make a date with No. 8-ranked Beach on Monday in the district title game.

Bowman County and Beach play at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Haley Sabe added 16 points, four assists and three steals for the Bulldogs (13-7), who trailed 26-23 at halftime.

Reba Resner came off the bench and played big inside for the Night Hawks (9-12). The senior had a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds and three steals.

Kaitlyn Olson hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Taylor Kelner added six points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Hettinger-Scranton faces Mott-Regent at 4:30 p.m. Monday in a region-qualifier game.

No. 1 seed Beach started its postseason on the right foot, getting double-doubles from Kelcee Dykins and Bailey Waldal to help defeat No. 4 seed Heart River.

Dykins had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Waldal added 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Hailee Farstveet tacked on 10 points and five rebounds for the No. 8-ranked Buccaneers (18-2).

Mary Hlebechuk added 15 points and six rebounds for the Cougars, who will face No. 6 seed New England in a region-qualifier game at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Miranda Kadrmas had 13 points and three rebounds for Heart River (11-10).
