GRAND FORKS — It took nine years, but once again the Bruins are North Dakota girls hockey state champions.
Fargo South scored five goals in the second period to defeat Grand Forks 7-2 at Ralph Engelstad Arena completing the Bruins undefeated season.
The title is the Bruins’ first since 2003 when they defeated Bismarck for the first ever girls hockey championship.
South senior Lindsay Nagel had a major hand in ending the Bruins title drought scoring the game’s first three goals.
South finished with a 26-0 record. The Knightriders were 16-10.
