CLASS B BOYS: Central Cass beats Linton-HMB 81-68

GRAND FORKS — Matt Zimmerman had 21 points and three assists Thursday as Central Cass rebounded from its first loss of the year to beat Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock 81-68 at the Class B state boys basketball tournament.

GRAND FORKS — Matt Zimmerman had 21 points and three assists Thursday as Central Cass rebounded from its first loss of the year to beat Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock 81-68 at the Class B state boys basketball tournament.

Zimmerman was joined in double figures by Josh Roesler with 18 points and seven rebounds and Ellery Bresnahan with 17 points and five assists. The Squirrels (26-1) shot 50 percent from the field.

Tanner Purintun turned in a strong all-around game for the Lions (17-9). Purintun had 24 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Tyler Humann had 12 points and Nathan Wieser 11.

Central Cass will play Grafton for fifth place and Linton-HMB will meet Divide County for seventh.
