BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota has a new state record lake trout.
The state Game and Fish Department says Royce Johnston of New Town was fishing at the Garrison Dam Tailrace when he reeled in a 16-pound, 6-ounce lake trout.
The 33-inch fish broke the previous record by more than 2 pounds. The old record had stood for 30 years.
