Property tax is one of the most unfair taxes we have the way it is.
You buy a home to live in the rest of your life and you will never really own it. You have to save or borrow the money every year to pay the property tax.
How much — $200, $300, $400 a month to pay what — property tax. That’s almost the payment I had when I bought my house 20-some years ago.
Who’s going to pay this when you retire? Sure cuts down on your retirement check.
Property tax affects almost everyone even if you rent it affects your rent payment each month.
How are counties going to make up property tax? I can think of several that are more fair and affordable. First, you have to think of a smart, well-educated person with common sense to vote for. Then vote.
Some people say I don’t vote because my vote won’t make a difference. My neighbors, friends and relatives don’t vote for the same reason. Besides I don’t have time I’d rather stop and have a beer at happy hour so I can complain about it. It would take less time to get a absentee ballet.
Vote yes on Measure 2 to abolish the property tax.
