WATFORD CITY (AP) — A portion of a major highway in western North Dakota's oil patch has been closed after damage to a bridge.

Transportation officials say the Long X Bridge along U.S. Highway 85 about 14 miles south of Watford City was struck and damaged by an over-height load. The highway was closed Sunday night.

No signed detour is in place but motorists are being cautioned to use an alternate route.
