Fire department has rules to keep city fire-free

When the Fire Danger Index is high, very high or under an extreme/red flag warning, the use of patio fire places and fire pits is prohibited in Dickinson, according to the Dickinson Fire Department.

People can use charcoal grills in city limits except during extreme/red flag warnings.

Patio fireplaces and fire pits with screens in place should be used and do not burn garbage, grass or leaves in them, the fire department warns.

Keep these 15 feet from structures and on a non-combustible surface. Make sure charcoal ashes are cold before properly discarding them.
