Briar Cliff sweeps DSU baseball team

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Briar Cliff erased a one-run Dickinson State lead and then poured on the runs to sweep the Blue Hawk baseball team on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader.

David Kowal and Brad Winkleman each had RBI in the fifth inning to tie the first game and help their team to a 3-2 seven-inning victory and then each drove in two runs as the Chargers rolled by the Blue Hawks 10-1 in nine innings.

Jonathon Mendoza had a RBI single for the Blue Hawks in Game 1. Tanner Newman was 1-for-2 and plated DSU’s only run in the third inning of Game 2.

The teams play again at 10 a.m. today.
