A Theodore Roosevelt National Park employee with years of experience is the new administration chief at the park.
Margaret Schwartz has been promoted after serving as the park’s budget analyst for the past eight years, Superintendent Valerie Naylor said in a press release.
Schwartz began her National Park Service career in 1983 as an intern at Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. She also worked two summers there as a seasonal fee collector and gained permanent status as the park dispatcher.
She then moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1988 and served in a variety of administrative positions at Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park and Mount Rushmore National Memorial, according to a press release.
Schwartz will coordinate business services ranging from contracting to human resources for the park in her new role. She also will help with the administration of the Fort Union Trading Post and Knife River Indian Villages national
historic sites.
