Blue Hawks blank Vikings in softball doubleheader

VALLEY CITY STATE — The Dickinson State softball team earned its first doubleheader sweep of the season Thursday, hitting the road to Valley City State in a pair of games originally scheduled to be in Dickinson.

Behind solid pitching efforts by Regan Lawrence and Taysia Kaufman, the Blue Hawks blanked the Vikings 4-0 and 2-0.

Janell LaRont went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run in the first game. Lawrence struck out just one and scattered six hits en route to the win for DSU (16-15).

Kaufman did work on both sides of the ball in the second game. She struck out five and didn’t walk a batter while going 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The teams play again at 1 p.m. today.
