Blue Hawks rallies late to split with Argos

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Dickinson State softball team grabbed another split on its recent road trip to Montana.

The Blue Hawks won the first game 13-12, but lost the second game 7-5 to University of Great Falls on Wednesday.

Regan Lawrence took the win for DSU in the opener. She threw three and one-third innings, allowing six earned runs and striking out four. Tiffany Morgan came on in relief and finished out the final three and two-third innings, giving up six runs on 11 hits.

The Blue Hawks big bat came from Vanessa Adame going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI’s and scoring two runs. Jessica Huseby went a perfect 4-for-4 scoring three runs and driving in one.

For the Argos, Kelsey Jirrels and Alex Lowry each supplied three hits and one home run. Lowry tacked on three RBI’s, but Chea Hollis blasted a home run and four RBI’s.

Alyse Sifuentes was tagged with the loss throwing four and two-third innings, allowing 12 runs and striking out five.

Statistics were not available for the second game.

The Blue Hawks continue action at home against Mayville State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
