GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota's fraternity and sorority houses are going dry.

The school's interfraternity council approved the alcohol ban. It will be in effect for the rest of the spring semester.

The step was taken in response to some recent drunken incidents on campus.

The university's police chief says the Pi Kappa Alpha frat was written up for a noisy party on April Fool's Day. Other members were cited for running naked.

Interfraternity Council President Tom Connelly tells the Grand Forks Herald that Greek houses that violate the policy could be stripped of social and recruitment privileges.
