BISMARCK — The Dickinson High baseball team came with another split on its trip to the Capital City.

The Midgets lost the opening West Region game to Bismarck High 8-4, but responded with a 3-2 win in the non-conference game on Friday.

Dickinson (2-2) held a 4-1 lead going into the bottom half of the sixth inning. That’s when the Bismarck got hot and scored seven runs in the sixth.

“We walked seven people in the sixth,” Dickinson head coach Pete Dobitz said. “We did a lot good things though.”

Andrew Dill grabbed the conference win throwing five innings and allowing one hit. Taylor Kraenzel was charged with the loss.

On the offensive side, James Kary hit a double for the Midgets, while Quinn Irey knocked a double for the Demons.

In the second game, Dickinson scored three runs in the first inning and that’s all needed behind the pitching of Brett Braunagel and Jon Wanner. Braunagel took the win and Zach Schuchard was ticketed with the loss. All three runs for Dickinson were unearned.

The Midgets didn’t get any hits and still came away with the victory.

Kole Bauer squared up two hits and drove in two run and Austin Stewart added a double in the loss.

Dickinson has its first home of the season on the new Fieldturf against Jamestown next Friday at 4:30 p.m.

“Talking to the turf guys, they are thinking Monday or Tuesday they will be done with the turf,” Dobitz said. “It will be interesting to see.”
