Blue Hawks have strong day at Sioux City Relays

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Dickinson State men’s and women’s track and field teams had a successful first day at the Sioux City Relays.

The Blue Hawk men found their stride in the field events, while the women have some work to do during the second day.

Andrew Knebel took first place in the high jump at 6 feet, 9 inches for DSU, while Brady Sundheim took runner-up in the triple jump (46-01¼).

Tyler Schmidkunz added two third place finishes for the Blue Hawks in the shot put (47-11¼) and hammer throw (162).

In the preliminaries 110-meter hurdles, Nathan Magstadt ran the fastest qualifying time of 14.69 seconds. The DSU sophomore also placed fourth in the 400 hurdles (54.81).

On the women’s side, Brianny Williams ran the fourth fastest time in the 100 hurdles preliminaries (15.16) and Haley Schaper took fourth in the high jump (5-04¼).

DSU continues action at the Sioux City relays today.
