Dickinson State women’s rodeo team rides to 2 wins in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Dickinson State women’s rodeo team captured a pair of victories last weekend at the University of Nebraska Rodeo at the Lancaster Event Center.

There were two rodeos split into four days, one Thursday and Friday and another Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Hawk women won both while junior Bobbi Grann captured the all-around and goat tying wins at the latter while winning the barrel racing at the first rodeo.

Grann had a two-day combined time of 14.2 seconds to win the goat tying and was second in the barrel racing at 28.38. She won the barrels at the first rodeo with a 28.2 average time.

Ashley Schaper won the team roping with partner Katie Doll of Black Hills State at the first rodeo (23.9 seconds on two head) and took runner-up in the breakaway roping (6.5 seconds) at the second rodeo.

DSU senior saddle bronc rider Riley Knoll continued his dominance in the Great Plains Region, winning both rodeos. He had a four-day combined score of 271, an average of nearly 68 points per qualified ride.

The DSU men’s team took third at the first rodeo and were runner-up at the second. South Dakota State won both rodeos.

Next up for DSU is its home rodeo, the Blue Hawk Stampede, the weekend of May 4 and 5 at the DSU Outdoor Arena.
