FARGO — Former North Dakota State tight end Matt Veldman signed a free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday.
Veldman will be leaving to participate in a minicamp with the team next weekend.
“They made it an easy decision,” Veldman said. “I talked with the head coach and a lot of people in the organization called me. It’s a great opportunity for a chance to compete.”
Veldman started in all 15 games during NDSU’s run to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title and caught 26 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns.
