WILLISTON — The rain came down, but so did the golf scores at the Links of North Dakota.
The Dickinson High boys team overcome a downpour to tally a 339 during its weekend road trip to the Williston Invitational on Saturday.
“I thought we played really well today considering the conditions — they were terrible,” Dickinson head coach Sara Berglund said with a laugh. “It was pouring rain at some points and it was really windy. It consistently rained all day.”
Tanner Halter led the Midgets with an 82, but the team’s runner-up was from an unfamiliar face — Carter Donnan. The freshman shot an 83 for his best finish this season.
Bismarck Century won the meet with a 313. Bismarck High came in with a 320 and Bismarck St. Mary’s finished with a 326.
The medalist for the invitational was Nick Nustad of Bismarck. The junior shot a 75.
Also shooting in the mid-to-high 80’s for the Midgets was Shay Ridl (85) and Luke Hanel (89). Austin Fournier had a 92 and Alex Priebe finished with a 96.
The Midgets have almost a week to fine tune some areas before heading off to the East-West Invitational at Dakota Winds Golf Course starting on Friday in Hankinson.
