Letter: Renters are biggest losers with Measure 2

We have heard all kinds of dialogue from the supporters of Measure 2 stating how much it will help North Dakotans, but they have forgotten about the thousands and thousands of North Dakotan that this measure will only have a negative effect on: People that rent.

What are the chances that landlords are going to lower rent even if they don’t have to pay property taxes? Slim to none.

What renters can expect to see are increases in sales tax, income tax, use tax, license fees, fuel, water bill, sewer bill, garbage bill and any other taxes/fees the state and cities may need to increase to cover the millions of dollars not collected by property taxes.

So if you rent and don’t want to see your cost of living increase, vote “no” on Measure 2 in June.
