Pender, Titans still going strong
SOUTH HEART — The Dickinson Trinity boys golf team claimed another top spot at the Region 5 Qualifying Tournament.
SOUTH HEART — The Dickinson Trinity boys golf team claimed another top spot at the Region 5 Qualifying Tournament.
The Titans finished the tournament with a 306 and had three golfers in the top five on Tuesday at Pheasant Country Golf Course.
Lance Pender won medalist at the second straight qualifying tournament with a 72. The senior from Trinity better his previous qualifying score by one when he shot a 73 on May 1.
Willy Jahner and Nathan Knopik each shot a 74 and finished third and fourth respectively for the Titans.
Hazen’s Josh Rothe helped his team to a tie for second place (322) and finished runner-up in the individual (73).
Beulah ended up in a tie with Hazen for second place (322) and had two golfers in the top 10. Zach Kessler (75) and Noah Iverson (78) both qualified for the state tournament.
Heart River’s Joey Wagner was the final state qualifier in the field after shooting a 79. Heart River placed fourth as a team (334) and Mitch Krebs was one stroke away from a state-qualifying score.
