Letter: Support Rick Berg for Senate

I first met Rick Berg after I arrived home from serving in the Army in Vietnam.

At that time he wore torn cut-off jeans and was still a starving college student. We played a couple of years on the same softball team. I was the old man on the team and he was the kid. Later in my life I had the pleasure of doing business with Berg.

I have always found him to be honest and trustworthy in all his endeavors. Berg has worked hard to be successful in his private life as well as his public life.

In November, we have an opportunity to send a new conservative voice to Washington to represent North Dakota.

I believe Berg is the right man for the job. He served in the North Dakota House of Representatives for 25 years. During that time, he worked with John Hoeven to balance our North Dakota budget five times.

While he’s working hard in the U.S. House, the problem lies in the Senate, where Democrats refuse to act on dozens of pieces of legislation that would improve the economy and help grow jobs.

If you want the Senate to change, you can’t send people who would support the Harry Reid-Barack Obama status quo. Berg has proven he will represent North Dakota interests, not national Democratic ones, in the U.S. Senate.

I am supporting Berg for Senate. I know him as an honest, decent man that deserves all of our support. He truly is the right man at the right time to represent North Dakota.
