FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Fargo set a new high temperature record for this date as the mercury shot up to 95 degrees Friday afternoon.
The Forum reports that Fargo hit the mark in the afternoon, breaking the record set for the date in 1988 by three degrees.
The warm temperatures are joined by gusty winds and low humidity, combining for a blast furnace effect.
Saturday's high is expected to be much cooler at around 70 degrees, and that's welcome news for runners participating in the Fargo Marathon.
The National Weather Service says there's a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday, with thunderstorms likely.
