Halter leads Midgets at Apple Creek
BISMARCK — Dickinson High senior Tanner Halter tied for first place, but fell short of medalist honors in a playoff Monday during the Bismarck High Invitational at Apple Creek Country Club.
BISMARCK — Dickinson High senior Tanner Halter tied for first place, but fell short of medalist honors in a playoff Monday during the Bismarck High Invitational at Apple Creek Country Club.
Halter shot a 4-over-par 76 to help the Midgets to a fourth-place team finish.
Jake Deforest of Bismarck St. Mary’s won a two-hole playoff against Bismarck High’s Nick Nustad to win the tournament. Halter bowed out after the first playoff hole.
Deforest’s 76 helped St. Mary’s to the team win with a 317. Bismarck Century shot a 320, Bismarck High a 325 and Dickinson a 334.
Luke Hanel (85), Austin Fournier (86), Shay Ridl (87), Carter Donnan (87) and Alex Priebe (94) contributed to Dickinson’s score.
“The course wasn’t super hard, but it wasn’t easy either,” Dickinson coach Sara Berglund said. “Overall, we make little mistakes here and there, so the scores add up. I’d like to see us cut out those mental mistakes.”
