Letter: Move to North Dakota a good one and candidate Cramer right man for position
I was appalled to read an email recently sent out by the Republican-endorsed candidate for Congress, Brian Kalk.
In his email, Kalk asserts that wealthy-out-of-state special interests have and are supporting Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer in the primary and general election.
I am one of those alleged folks who have made significant (for me and my wife) financial contributions to Cramer’s campaign. The record will reflect that we have also made contributions to Sen. John Hoeven and Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other candidates on the local level.
We had the opportunity to come to North Dakota in 2009 and work in the booming Bakken. In assessing this opportunity, we decided to travel to Bismarck and meet with North Dakota officials and propose a new concept in water transfer for the fracking of wells being drilled.
In the process of introducing this project, I got to know Cramer and found him to be a man of integrity as well as a kindred spirit philosophically. I am a free market conservative who believes in limited government, personal responsibility and individual liberty.
I am supporting Cramer because he believes in the same ideas and holds the same values I do. I am encouraging my friends to support him for the same reasons.
These “wealthy out-of-state special interests” are people just like me.
I taught vocational agriculture for 13 years. I became a commercial contractor and went bankrupt, losing everything I had worked 25 years to build.
Starting over, I started a small water transfer company and helped pioneer the technique of water transfer in the oil and gas industry, a technique which today is used all over the country. From five employees (including my family), we grew to more than 200, including more than 40 in North Dakota.
We need to change our political landscape and elect people to office who can change the destiny of our great country. We need to elect Cramer as our representative in the U.S. Congress.
