Fargo Shanley, West Fargo meet in state championship

MANDAN — Fargo Shanley shook off a tough third inning in which it gave up six runs to Fargo Davies to reach the Class A state baseball tournament championship game on Friday at Veteran’s Memorial Ballpark.

MANDAN — Fargo Shanley shook off a tough third inning in which it gave up six runs to Fargo Davies to reach the Class A state baseball tournament championship game on Friday at Veteran’s Memorial Ballpark.

Six different players drove in runs for Shanley, which had a 3-0 lead to open the game and rallied from a 6-3 deficit. The Deacons (22-16) scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the win.

Nathan Rasmus was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead Davies (25-12)

West Fargo 6, Wahpeton 0

West Fargo racked up three runs in the third inning and that was all Camran Bonnema needed in the win.

Bonnema threw seven innings, giving up one hit and striking out seven to lead West Fargo past Wahpeton 6-0 in the semifinals.

The Packers (32-5) tacked on two runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth. Kory Wolden went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Andy Young added a triple.

The Huskies (22-15) lone hit in the game came off the bat of Alex Lunneborg.

West Fargo faces Fargo Shanley in the state championship game 35 minutes after the third place game or approximately at 5 p.m. today.

Bismarck St. Mary’s 3, Williston 2

St. Mary’s scored two runs in the third inning and pitcher Christopher Klym took over from there. He struck out nine and gave up four hits as the Saints (10-24) advanced to play Dickinson High in today’s fifth-place game.

Cory Vinger had a RBI for the Coyotes (11-21), who play Bismarck for seventh place. Caden Lerbakken and Sam Falcon, who took the loss, each had a double.
