WEST FARGO — The West Fargo baseball team ended the high school season as state champions.

Fast forward two weeks later and the West Fargo Patriots swept the Dickinson Roughriders 15-5 and 9-3 in an American Legion baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

Both opponents have faced similar competition this season as the Patriots (4-0) started the season sweeping Jamestown, while Dickinson (1-5) split with Jamestown on Friday night at the Southside Municipal Ballpark.

The Roughriders’ Brett Schweitzer lost the opener, but Cole Anderson took the hill in the second game and was able to give a bounce-back performance.

“Cole pitched well,” Dickinson head coach Cory Hansen said.

For the Patriots, Zach Steckler grabbed the win in the opener, while Camran Bonnema closed out the day with a win in the second game.

The Roughriders are back on the road traveling to Williston at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
