Kallenbach, Roughriders top Chaparral
OMAHA, Neb. — Korey Kallenbach gave up just one run as the Dickinson Roughriders defeated Chaparral of Parker, Colo., 5-1 on Thursday in its opening game of the Battle of Omaha Tournament.
OMAHA, Neb. — Korey Kallenbach gave up just one run as the Dickinson Roughriders defeated Chaparral of Parker, Colo., 5-1 on Thursday in its opening game of the Battle of Omaha Tournament.
“He threw a gem,” Roughriders head coach Cory Hansen said.
James Kary had two hits and a RBI to lead Dickinson’s hitters. Brady Dutchak added a RBI single. Dylan Skabo, Cole Anderson, Taylor Kraenzel and Alex Huschka each got a hit.
The tournament has 48 teams broken down into eight pools of six teams.
Dickinson faces the Louisiana Bullets, an all-star team out of Lake Charles, La., at 2:30 p.m. today followed by a game against host team Omaha Skutt at 5 p.m.
The tournament allows teams the chance to watch games at the College World Series, which is at Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park. The Roughriders watched the game between Arizona and Florida State on Thursday evening.
