The Louisiana Bullets defeated the Roughriders 11-5 in their opening game of the day at the Battle of Omaha Tournament. Dickinson then turned around lost 9-7 to Omaha Skutt, the host team of its pool.
The Bullets, an all-star team out of Lake Charles, La., piled up 10 hits and led 7-2 in the fourth inning before Dickinson could start chipping away at the lead.
Cole Anderson, Mark Erickson, Brady Dutchak and Alex Hushcka all went 1-for-3 for the Roughriders. Aaron Berg started at pitcher and took the loss.
Taylor Kraenzel hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning against Omaha Skutt to tie the game 7-7.
But, Skutt added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, shortly before the game’s two-hour time limit.
Luke Herauf was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
Korey Kallenbach had a double and Mark Erickson and James Kary each went 1-for-3. Kary took the loss on the mound.
Dickinson plays Shawnee (Kan.) Mission East at noon today and Valparaiso, Neb., at 2:30 p.m.
