Bohan tosses complete game as Governors edge Roughriders

BISMARCK — Trent Bohan pitched a complete game and got help from his hitters when he needed it Monday night to lead the Bismarck Governors past the Dickinson Roughriders in an American Legion baseball game.

Bohan scattered eight hits in the nine-inning game, but got the help he needed in the sixth when Tyler Richter’s RBI single put the Governors on top for good.

Austin Zorn’s single on a bunt to the pitcher scored another run in the seventh and the Governors went on to win 5-3 in a game that counted toward the North Dakota state standings.

Mason Schiff drove in two runs on a single in the first and a double in the third to lead the Roughriders (8-15), who used three pitchers to varying success.

Sean Kelly got the start, but reliever Mickey Folske took the loss after his balk in the sixth allowed Zorn to score the tying run, 3-3. He gave up the RBI single to Tescher on the next at bat. Luke Herauf closed out the game for Dickinson, throwing the last 2 2/3 innings.

Bismarck had just seven hits. Zorn led Bismarck (20-4) at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs.

James Kary added a RBI single in the third, Mark Erickson was 2-for-3 with a run and Taylor Kraenzel was 2-for-4 for the Roughriders, who are off until July 10 when they visit the Minot Vistas.

Roughriders win Wood Bat Classic

MILES CITY, Mont. — Alex Huschka pitched a complete-game shutout as the Dickinson Roughriders defeated Regina, Sask., to win the Harry Griffith Wood Bat Classic on Sunday.

Erickson and Kary each went 1-for-3 with a RBI as the Roughriders won 5-0. They finished 4-1 at the tournament.
