Seven players from southwest North Dakota have been selected to play for the West teams in the Shrine Bowl all-star football games on July 14 at Fargo Shanley High School.
Dickinson Trinity all-state defensive back Brandon Sickler and Killdeer all-state lineman Tate Harris will play for the 11-man West team, alongside Hazen’s all-state linebacker Brock Bruner and lineman Ethan Eberle, Beulah lineman Erik Ham and New Salem-Almont-Glen Ullin’s Matt Doll.
Mott-Regent quarterback and defensive back McCahen Schweitzer is the area’s lone representative on the 9-man West squad.
Three Killdeer players — Grady Houghton, Ethan Olson, Lane Oversen — and Beulah’s Isaiah Krebs are alternates for the 11-man West squad.
The 11-man game starts at 4 p.m. with the 9-man game to follow at 7 p.m.
For the first time in the game’s history, all four teams will be housed and practice at the same site, Mayville State University.
