Jeff Taylor won the day again, but in the end Hank Berry won the war.

Taylor won his second consecutive feature race in the Dakota Classic Modified Tour’s IMCA Modifieds class Friday night at Mandan’s Dacotah Speedway.

However, Berry stayed close, finishing fourth in the feature to seal up the points title. It was the Sidney, Mont., driver’s fourth in the Tour’s 23 years.

Taylor, who came from Cave City, Ark., to race on the Tour, finished second in the points after winning three races. He was nine points behind Berry.

Taylor was set back by a 20th-place finish on the first night of the Tour at Minot’s Nodak Speedway on July 8. He won the feature on the second night in Minot the following day.

Dickinson’s Jeff Decker, who helped bring Taylor on the Tour, was the Southwest Speedway’s best finisher in the points. He ended up 22nd overall.

Shawn Havel of Algoma, Wis., won the IMCA Stock Car portion of the Tour after taking the feature victory in Mandan.

Havel came into the night in second place, two points behind Minot’s Steven Pfeifer, who finished sixth Friday and ended up second in the points.
