Letter: Stark County sheriff takes job seriously, expects same from others

I have known Stark County Sheriff Clarence Tuhy for the past 25-plus years, both as a work mate and more importantly, as a very good neighbor.

Tuhy has been a law enforcement officer for the better part of 40 years.

Each time that Tuhy has ran for Stark County sheriff, he has garnered an approval rating from the residents of Stark County of more than 77 percent.

During Tuhy’s long career as a police officer with the Dickinson Police Department and now with his tenure as Stark County sheriff, Tuhy has always taken his job very seriously and expects those working with him and/or for him to do the same. This is why Tuhy feels the public expects and deserves.

At times, this high degree of work ethics has led to differences of opinion from those that do not hold their duties to such a high standard as Tuhy and/or from those that may have a personal agenda.

Law enforcement is not about personal agendas or vendettas.

Law enforcement is about working together as a team and giving one’s best for the safety and welfare of the public at large.

It has been my experience with Tuhy that he has always kept these principles to the forefront and at the same time showing a high degree of compassion when the situation calls for it.
