RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Dickinson Roughriders got back on the winning page Friday night.
Dickinson scored five runs in the fifth inning en route to a 14-12 win over the Davy Jones (Colo.) Rangers at the Pev Evans Tournament hosted by Rapid City Post 22.
Mason Schiff laid down a sacrifice squeeze bunt to score Luke Herauf and Dylan Skabo in the bottom of the fifth inning to break an 8-8 tie. The Roughriders tacked on three more runs in the inning to take a 13-8 lead.
Taylor Kraenzel went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while James Kary added two hits with a double and two RBIs.
Skabo racked up two hits and scored three runs, while Mark Erickson had two hits. Schiff crossed the plate to score two runs, including the two-run sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning.
Dickinson totaled nine hits and committed five errors, while Davy Jones had 11 hits and four errors.
There was more than a one-hour rain delay during the game, which began at 5 p.m.
Because of that, the Roughriders’ second game against host Post 22 didn’t start until 10 p.m. and was not completed by the time The Dickinson Press was published Friday night.
