Chad Jahner took an early lead and never looked back en route to his first career feature win in the Pure Stocks division on Saturday night at the Southwest Speedway.

“I knew my day would come,” Jahner said with a smile. “Patience pays off.”

Jahner won his heat earlier in the day and kept the momentum going into the feature. But, the win didn’t come without a challenge.

Going into the last lap, Bismarck’s Roy Erickson nearly snagged the win from him as Jahner, who is from Dickinson, got caught up in lap traffic.

“I was just thinking get out of the way,” said Jahner “I’m glad it worked out the way it did though.”

In the Wissota Street Stocks, Monte Gawryluk won both his heat and feature races.

“The track was smooth and the car felt great,” Gawryluk said.

The man from Mandan drove a dominant race from start to finish, and was able to keep a solid lead through lap traffic near the end of the feature.

“The car drove great,” Gawryluk said. “I just kept my line.”

Dickinson’s Derek Nitschke also won his heat and feature in the Thunder 4’s.

He took the lead after a shifter malfunction cost the leader coming out of the caution. That’s when Nitschke saw his chance, seized the lead and never looked back.

“He totally missed a gear and after that, I just had a clear feeling,” Nitschke said.

It was Nitschke’s third feature win of the season.

“It’s been a very good year so far. I’ve just got to keep it going,” Nitschke said.

In the IMCA Modifieds, Bismarck’s’ Tracy Domagala was victorious in his heat, as well as the feature, as he held on to the season point’s lead.

“The car ran awesome,” Domagala said.

Domagala was simply the more aggressive driver.

He took inside lanes and got through plenty of lap traffic to cross the finish line in first place.

“It always feels scary when I’m going through lap traffic, but they held they’re lines good and I got around them,” Domagala said. “Everyone had a good race.”
