There were two fights over the weekend in Dickinson resulting in five arrests, Dickinson Police Department Capt. Dave Wilkie said.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday officers were called out to Jerome Distributing Inc. where a knife-shovel fight had broken out, he said.
The altercation began in a residence above the business where the three men were living together, Wilkie said.
Darrick Joiner, 23, Caldwell, Idaho, allegedly stabbed Daniel Meinecke, 35, Leggette, Calif., in the residence and then attempted to flee, he said.
Meinecke then allegedly chased after Joiner with a shovel, smacking him over the left side of his head and shoulder and breaking the shovel, Wilkie said.
A third roommate, Sean Whorton, 42, Dickinson, called the police, Wilkie said. He was arrested for providing false information that impeded the investigation.
A fourth roommate, Paulino Lopez, 34, Dickinson, was allegedly involved in the fight but was not arrested, Wilkie said.
Later that morning police were called to Liquid Assets shortly before 6 a.m. where Paul Lamb, 39, Dickinson, was arrested for allegedly hitting Wesley Wilmeth, 46, Dickinson, over the head with a beer bottle, he said.
Wilmeth was allegedly pushing Lamb before being struck, Wilkie said.
