BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of leaving his 2-year-old son home alone so he could go out drinking has been sentenced to two days in jail.

Adam Samuels, 32, pleaded guilty to child abuse and neglect on Monday.

South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick sentenced Samuels to two years in prison with all but two days he had already served suspended.

Police say officers responded to an apartment on June 22 to check on a child who a woman had heard crying. An apartment manager unlocked the door, and police found the boy alone inside.
