Dickinson man receives 10 years in prison for enticement of a minor

A judge sentenced Jeremy Zastoupil, 31, of Dickinson, on a charge of coercion and enticement of a minor today, according to the Department of Justice.

Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Zastoupil to serve 10 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Zastoupil was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund and he must register as a sex offender.

In August, Zastoupil had a chat session on the Internet with an undercover Dickinson police officer, who introduced himself as a 14-year-old female from Dickinson. Zastoupil attempted to persuade the undercover officer to engage in sexual activity. He was arrested when he went to the site where he had agreed to meet the undercover officer, according to the DOJ.

Zastoupil pleaded guilty on May 9.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, Stark County State’s Attorney’s Office, Dickinson Police Department and North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
