U-Mary WR Steffan, a DHS graduate, named NSIC Player to Watch
BURNSVILLE, Minn. — University of Mary senior wide receiver Tyler Steffan has been named one of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s Players to Watch.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. — University of Mary senior wide receiver Tyler Steffan has been named one of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s Players to Watch.
The Dickinson High School graduate, Steffan was the Marauders’ first American Football Coaches Association All-American last season after leading NCAA Division II in touchdown receptions.
Steffan was all-NSIC as a junior after catching 54 passes for 914 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also set the school’s single-game record for scoring receptions and tied the U-Mary single-game record for touchdowns when he caught four in a game twice. He is currently tied for second in school history in receiving touchdowns (23), is fifth in in receiving yardage (1,850), sixth in catches (114) and seventh in touchdowns (23).
Defending champion University of Minnesota Duluth was selected as the NSIC’s top team in the preseason coaches’ poll. U-Mary was picked 9th and Minot State, entering its first year in the league, was selected 14th of 16 teams.
The Marauders open fall practice Saturday and visit Concordia-St. Paul in their season opener Sept. 1.
