Semi and 3 vehicles involved in Highway 85 chain-reaction crash south of Belfield

A multiple vehicle crash occurred this morning about 10 miles south of Belfield on Highway 85.

A multiple vehicle crash occurred this morning about 10 miles south of Belfield on Highway 85.

Offficials were still on the scene after noon.

A semi carrying pipes, a Ford pickup and two Explorers were damaged or totaled in the chain reaction when a truck slowed down to make a turn onto a gravel road.

Les Tucker, the driver of the semi belonging to Adams Trucking out of Nebraska, was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Dickinson.

“Everybody stopped in front of me — I couldn’t stop,” he said at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is investigating and the number of injuries was not immediately known.
