A New England pastor died late Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 85, 16 miles south of Belfield.
According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol crash report released Saturday, Mickenzie Robertson, 22, of Bowman, was traveling north on Highway 85 in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado at 11:23 p.m. Thursday when he appeared to drift into the southbound lane.
Robertson’s vehicle struck a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Patrick Moore, 73, of New England, who was traveling south on Highway 85.
Moore attempted to steer into the northbound lane but was struck head on by Robertson’s vehicle.
Robertson’s truck came to rest in the west ditch, while Moore’s vehicle remained on the roadway.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Robertson was transported to Dickinson by ambulance then flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Both vehicles sustained major front end damage.
The accident is still under investigation by the NDHP and no charges have been filed.
Robertson’s condition was unknown as of press time.
