The Dickinson Eagles Auxiliary and the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center are co-sponsoring the fourth annual Walk/Run for Diabetes Research on Saturday, Sept. 1.
The event is at the Dickinson Recreation Center with registration at 8:15 a.m., and the walk/run to start at 9 a.m.
“Every dollar we receive after expenses goes directly to diabetes research,” committee member Lynette Heidecker said.
The entry fee is $20 when received by Wednesday and $25 if received after Wednesday. Registration includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group for men and women.
“It’s for all ages — we have moms, dads, kids and grandparents — anybody who has ever been touched by diabetes or not,” Heidecker said. “Some participants really like to run and others like walking.”
The walk-run continues to grow, with last year’s event raising $6,000 for diabetes research, she said.
The walk/run is the Eagles Auxiliary’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
“Basically, we earn money for the community and every dollar we get gets donated right back,” she said.
Other Eagles Auxiliary-sponsored events include the Home on the Range, Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center, Make-a-Wish and the Ronald McDonald House.
The auxiliary meets 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday at the Eagles Club.
Flyers are available at the Dickinson Eagles Club or Quality Quick Print.
