TUESDAY NIGHT PREP FOOTBALL RECAP: Zentner brothers, Wildfire get past Center-Stanton

The Wildfire put up 14 points in both the second and third quarters to defeat Center-Stanton 36-30 in the 9-man, Region 4 season opener for both teams on Tuesday.

Taylor Zentner went 15-for-25 for 237 yards and two touchdowns.

Jacob Greff had touchdown runs of nine and 42 yards that highlighted a game of 11 carries for 126 yards. Logan Haberstroh added 56 yards on seven carries and a 33-yard TD.

Tyler Zentner corralled seven passes from his older brother for 129 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Mott-Regent held a 36-22 advantage after three quarters.

For Center-Stanton, Logan Staigle was a one-man wrecking crew, throwing for 134 yards and rushing for 60 yards. He threw two TD passes and rushed for another.

Mott-Regent plays Parshall-White Shield during the Badlands Activities Center Jamboree at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Center-Stanton plays Hettinger-Scranton at 6 p.m. to close out the Jamboree.

PARSHALL — Anthony Weinreis threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another as Beach opened its season with a 28-6 9-man, Region 6 victory over Parshall-White Shield.

Tyler Steffan and Danny Skoglund each had a touchdown run for the Buccaneers.

Jade Moran had Parshall-White Shield’s only score, a 26-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Beach faces Central McLean at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Badlands Activities Center Jamboree in Dickinson. Parshall-White Shield opens the Jamboree against Mott-Regent at 10:30 p.m.

BOWMAN — Kye Erickson scored touchdowns three different ways as Hettinger-Scranton open its season with a 34-0 victory over 9-man, Region 4 rival Bowman County.

Erickson, a junior quarterback and defensive back, threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Kristy in the second quarter. He then returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and had two 1-yard TD plunges in the third quarter. He had 83 yards passing and 37 yards rushing.

Christian Hughes rushed for 130 yards and had a 51-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Night Hawks, who play Center-Stanton at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Badlands Activities Center Jamboree.

Chandler Braaten led Bowman County with 47 yards rushing. The Bulldogs visit Divide County at 2 p.m. Saturday.
