FARGO — An allegation against a senior linebacker who was kicked off the North Dakota State University football team earlier this month was sexual in nature but did not involve sexual assault, Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel confirmed today.

Brandon Jemison, a Fargo South graduate who played in all 40 games during his first three seasons with the Bison, was dismissed from the team because of violation of team rules, coach Craig Bohl said on Aug. 9.

Within two days of Jemison being removed from the team, police submitted their reports to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s office for consideration, Vettel said. He said he anticipates charges being filed by the end of next week or sooner.

Vettel said he couldn’t discuss details of the allegation.

Jemison started 27 games for the Bison during his three years with the team.

He started 14 games as a sophomore and five as a junior before being replaced as a starter. He played in all 15 games for last year’s FCS national championship team, finishing 12th on the team in tackles.
