Midgets rebound at East-West Invitational

BISMARCK — The Dickinson High volleyball team followed up a 1-2 start with a 3-1 finish at the East-West Invitational.

The Midgets grabbed wins over Fargo South, 25-23, 25-18, 15-13, Wahpeton, 25-18, 25-17, 15-7 and Fargo Shanley, 21-25, 25-16, 16-14 on Saturday.

Dickinson’s (4-3) lone loss on the day was in a 25-18, 25-20, 15-9 sweep by defending Class A state volleyball champions Grand Forks Red River.

Abby Grove and Ali Moody led the Midgets’ offense each with 23 kills. Rachel Schroeder added 20 kills and also had eight blocks and seven aces.

Moody supplied 47 assists, 35 digs and eight aces while Grove had seven aces.

The Midgets host West Region opponent Mandan in their home opener at 7 p.m. Thursday at the DHS gymnasium.
