Rachel Jahner needed a one-hole playoff to defeat Jamestown’s Sierra Bennion on Thursday during the Minot Invitational at the Roughrider Golf Course.

Riana Cooper won medalist at Bismarck Century in the Dickinson’s previous tournament.

“I’m very happy about the play today,” Berglund said. “We had a big break about 10 days since we were at a tournament, so it was good to be back.”

Jahner posted a 75, while Cooper added an 83 in a tie for fourth place. As a team Dickinson (368) placed runner-up to winner Bismarck Century (342).

Dickinson also had Rachel Lantz with a 101 and Katherine Kessel with a 109. Kelsey Yon rounded out the team’s five golfers with a 117.

During the brief break between the Bismarck Century Invitational and the Minot Invitational, the Midgets worked on course-management skills.

Berglund hopes the solid play carries into the Williston Invitational at The Links of North Dakota today.

“We’re hoping that they improve each tournament that we go to,” she said. “With the course being difficult tomorrow, it’s going to be important to carry over that play from today.”
