Friday Night Football: Duo helps Buccaneers run past Wildfire

MOTT — Marshall Nunberg and Tyler Steffan combined for 330 yards rushing as Beach knocked off Mott-Regent 42-24 in a 9-man, Region 4 game Friday night.

Nunberg had three touchdown runs and Steffan added another as the Buccaneers (3-1, 3-1 Region 4) overcame a two-touchdown first-quarter deficit to beat the Wildfire.

Steffan rushed for 178 yards on 38 carries and Nunberg had 152 yards on 19 carries.

Taylor Zentner did all he could for Mott-Regent (2-2, 2-2 Region 4), throwing for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned an interception for a touchdown. However, the senior also threw four picks.

ELGIN — No. 2-ranked Heart River kept rolling along, crushing previously unbeaten Grant County-Flasher on the road in a Class 1A, Region 4 game.

Cole Hecker rushed for 136 yards and two touchdown runs. He also had a 42-yard punt return for a TD to lead the Cougars (3-0, 2-0 Region 4). Cole Hlebechuk had 137 yards rushing and two TD carries.

Although Cougars senior Seth Ewoniuk was held without a rushing touchdown for the first time this season and had just 67 yards on nine carries, he had a 95-yard kick return for a TD in the second quarter.

The Storm dropped to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 4.

PARSHALL — Dexter Two Crow rushed for five touchdowns and Parshall-White Shield ran away with a 9-man, Region 4 victory over Hettinger-Scranton.

Hayden Sadowsky threw a pair of late touchdown passes for the Night Hawks (2-2, 2-2 Region 4), who trailed 32-14 at halftime. The Braves are 2-2 overall and in Region 4.

Lane Voltz had a 1-yard TD sneak threw a touchdown pass and 60-yard TD pass to Steven Wiedmer to in the final 5 minutes of the second quarter to put the Raiders (2-2, 1-1 Region 4) up for good.
