The first Hometown Heroes event was held in 2010 to honor those who had served in the first eight years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. The ceremony held Sunday in Fargo recognized those who served more than 30 consecutive days of active duty between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2010.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple, Sen. John Hoeven, Rep. Rick Berg, Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, and others took part in the ceremony that recognized about 250 airmen and their families.
