Jahner, Midgets 2nd at Prairie West

MANDAN — Gusty conditions made for a tough scoring day at Prairie West Golf Course.

MANDAN — Gusty conditions made for a tough scoring day at Prairie West Golf Course.

Dickinson junior Rachel Jahner and Riana Cooper didn’t seem to fret though, taking runner-up and fourth place, respectively, on Tuesday at the Mandan Invitational.

“Today, a mid-80s score was a very good score,” Berglund said. “The wind really played a huge factor in the scores today.”

The Midgets finished runner-up as a team with a 383 to team winner Bismarck Century (361). Jamestown’s Sierra Bennion won the medalist after shooting a 79. Jahner supplied an 81, while Cooper had an 84.

Jahner and Cooper automatically qualified for the Class A state tournament. The invite served as an individual-qualifying tournament for players.

Raegan Linster, who is a seventh-grader, won in a playoff during the week and shot a 106 for Dickinson’s third-best score. Rachel Lantz added a 112 and Kelsey Yon shot a 117. Katherine Kessel rounded out the Dickinson scores with a 133.

Dickinson has about a week off before traveling at 9 a.m. Monday to Rolla Municipal Golf Course for the Turtle Mountain Invitational.
