VALLEY CITY — The competition level was enhanced and the Dickinson Trinity volleyball team didn’t back down.

The Titans finished with a 3-4 record during the Valley City Invitational on Saturday.

“It was totally a different level than we are used to,” Trinity head coach Rayma Braaten said.

Trinity’s started out the tournament with back-to-back wins, before losing the next three. Braaten said after the third game, her team stepped it up.

“From there on, we played great,” she said. “It was an amazing level like I had a never seen my girls play before.”

The Titans took wins over North Sargent 23-18, 21-19, Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page 21-12, 21-17 and Richland 21-13, 21-8.

After losing to Midkota, Oakes and Valley City, Trinity played Hatton-Northwood for fourth from each pool. The Thunder defeated the Titans 25-18, 25-22.

The Titans continue regular season by hosting Glen Ullin-Hebron in just the second home match of the season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“I’m hoping that we will be able to stay at that level,” Braaten said. “However I’m not sure when we come back to our regular season, if we are just going to keep that intensity like we had over there.”
